The Aviation is a classic cocktail that dates back to Hugo Ensslin’s 1916 “Recipes for Mixed Drinks.” Because Créme de Violette liqueur was not widely attainable it’s been dormant (or altered) from the original cocktail . Now, with the original ingredients available The Aviation takes flight.
1 3/4 oz. NOLET’S Silver Gin
1/2 oz. Maraschino Liqueur
1/4 oz. Créme de Violette
1/2 oz. Lemon Juice
Shake all ingredients with ice to chill and strain into a coup glass.
For a dramatic presentation, shake all ingredients except Créme de Violette and sink it into glass just before serving.
Garnish with lemon zest twist.
